I have used them for chaos-type-stuff. What you really have to be aware of is whether or not the kit you’re using is hellaciously toxic or not. That’s the main reason they aren’t so good - it’s kinda hard to handle things that are incredibly toxic, and very fragile.

Creating a hypersaline solution, introducing a seed salt crystal, and letting the water evap can also build a crystal - in this case one of pure salt.
